Everest Base Camp Trek

Trekking to Everest Base Camp is a dream come true. You will be standing next to the highest monument of nature. Everest Base Camp trek, goes through the native Sherpa homeland, through numbers of stunning attractions, passing deep into the Buddhist Sherpa country, and some of the world's most sublime peaks. This trek starts in Nepali-speaking Hindu lowlands and ends in the Tibetan-Buddhist highlands where you will glimpse hardworking and devoted Sherpas.

You will start this trek from Lukla. You will then climb the trail to Namche Bazaar which is modern day Sherpa capital as you further ascends the trek cuts across the valleys and reaches the staggering height of 5545 meters at Kala Pattar, a small peak offering a breathtaking view of Everest. In these inhospitable lands, potato is the main crop for the survival, however, these days trekking and mountaineering is the backbone of Sherpa economy. After the trek you will fly back to Kathmandu to enjoy the authentic Nepali dinner with cultural shows.

DAY 01

Day 01: Arrival - Kathmandu

Arrive in Kathmandu. It is the capital and largest and old city in Nepal. Kathmandu has the artistic and architectural traditions that rivals anything you find in other great cities. Meeting and assistance at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

DAY 02

Day 02: Kathmandu

Morning, sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square. Walk through the narrow alleys, exploring medieval town with various man made treasures, old royal palaces, living goddess. Watch the passing parade of humanity in Durbar Square.Later, visit Swayambhunath Stupa “Monkey Temple” . This Buddhist temple on the top of the hill west of Kathmandu, is one of the most recognizable symbol in Kathmandu.

Afternoon, sightseeing tour of Patan Durbar Square. Patan also known as Lalitpur is the second largest city inside the valley. Patan has a long Buddhist influence and the four corners of the city are marked by Stupas said to have been created by great Buddhist emperor around 250 BC.

DAY 03

Day 03: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding (2,800m)

Early morning, transfer to the domestic airport in Kathmandu and fly to Lukla.

Commence trek to Phakding (3.5 hrs walk). The trail from Lukla descends steeply to Thado Khola, crossing in on local suspension bridge. Meet your first Yaks, wonderful Shaggy beasts that create lumbering mobile roadblocks on the trail. The trail passes through Ghat (2530m) on the bank of DudhKoshiriver and climbs to Phakding.

DAY 04

Day 04: Phakding - Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Today trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (6 hrs walk).

The trail from Phakding passes through number of waterfalls. Glimpse wonderful peak of Thamserku (6618m). Pass through Benker, Monjo and Jorsale crossing the entrance of Everest National park. The trail crosses Dudh Koshi river on a suspension bridge that is at a dizzying height above the river.

DAY 05

Day 05: Namche Bazaar

Acclimatization is important before proceeding to higher altitude. We will spend the day taking hike to Thami or just by relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar. Historically Namche Bazaar was a staging point for expeditions over the Nagpa LA into Tibet with loads of manufacturing goods from India.

DAY 06

Day 06: Trek from Chuksang to Samar (3,150m/4 hrs)

Today trek from Namche Bazzar to Tengboche (6 hrs walk).

The route from Namche to Tengboche is direct, reasonably level. We may get a glimpse of Himalayan Thar on the hillside below the trail early morning. We will pass through several Gompas, schools along our trail till we reach Khumjung. From Khumjung trail goes eastwards down the valley, continuously passing picturesque mani walls and chortens.

DAY 07

Day 07: Tengboche - Dingboche (4,360m)

Today trek from Tengboche to Dinboche (6 hrs walk).

From Tengboche trail passes through the forest of birches, conifers, and rhododendrons. We will see Nepal National bird, the Himalayan monal or impeyan pheasant, which lives only in high altitude. High above you will begin to see goshwaks, Himalayan griffons, golden eagle circling the mountains.

DAY 08

Day 08: Dingboche - Lobuje (4,940m)

Today trek from Dingboche to Lobuje (4 hrs walk).

Trek climbs to Duglha (4620m), climbing up the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and further on higher on moraine to row of stone monuments in memory of six Sherpa who died on the avalanche during 1970.

DAY 09

Day 09: Lobuje - Gorak Shep (5,160m) - Everest Base Camp (5,364m) - Gorak Shep

The first section of the trail from here follows the western side of board Khumbu Valley and ascends gently through meadows beside the glacial moraine. The trail makes s short descent onto the sandy, flat expanse of Gorak Shep. Then, the hike to Everest Base Camp is approx. 5 hrs trip. The route follows the Khumbu Glacier, sometimes on the moraine and sometime on the Glacier itself. Later, trek down to Gorak Shep (8 hrs walk).

DAY 10

Day 10: Gorak Shep - Kala Pattar (5,545m) - Pheriche (4,243m)

Early morning, hike to Kala Pattar. Early morning, hike to peak of Kala Pattar meaning ‘Black Rock’ for the best view of Mount Everest. During the ascent to Kala Patthar, we can pause to catch a breath at several outstanding view points from where we can snap great pictures We will view first rays of light over Mt. Everest. Later trek down to Pheriche (7 hrs walk).

DAY 11

Day 11: Pheriche - Khumjung (3,790m)

Today trek from Pheriche to Khumjung (6 hrs walk).

The trail descends to Pangboche and now the trail starts turning up and down in every half an hour to Phortse. On the way there is an opportunity to see wild life in and around the area like mountain goat, musk deer and many species of Himalayan birds.

DAY 12

Day 12: Khumjung - Monjo (2,835m)

Today descend to the small Sherpa settlement of Monjo (5 hrs walk).

DAY 13

Day 13: Monjo - Lukla (2,800m)

This is your last day of the trek as you arrive Lukla, the descend is bit rough to the knees, but warmer climate offers an opportunity to finally shed down-filled jackets and woolen jumpers.

DAY 14

Day 14: Lukla - Kathmandu

Early morning, transfer to the domestic airport in Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is free.

Evening, transfer to an authentic Nepali restaurant for Nepali dinner with cultural shows.Do not miss to enjoy an authentic Nepali dinner with cultural dinners once you are here in Kathmandu. This is one of the wonderful experiences to taste typical Nepali food which we call “Dal Baht” with lentils. You will be surprised with the variety of Nepalese dishes that will keep on coming. The server with a gentle smile in their face will name you every item in Nepali as well as in English language before serving you. Along with the food you will be kept entertained with typical Nepali folk shows. You will get a chance to see the dance performance of different ethnic groups of Nepal in theirs unique cultural uniform.

DAY 15

Day 15: Kathmandu - Departure

Free till departure. Transfer to the airport at time to connect your onward flight.
